Hallo im newbi to this forum im from denmark but my english is much better then my swedish
but pleas replay in eny langured you like.

Now i ges im a linn convert because the other day i heard the klimax chakra twin with unidisk sc

I was what you call blown away by the musicality and fidility of the sound it better enything else i have heard in the most important way namely the music

Now i see that there is also a solo amp version wich is more powerfull and alot more expensiv but i have actually found a nice pair from 2000 at a fair price and im just about to press the tricker on this pair.

Now what puzzels me is the solos are from 1998 and the chakra is from 2005 and has the newst chakra tecnologi in it and i actually read somwhere that in japan ther is a rumor that the chakra amp is actually better sounding.

Is the eny one that have extensivly compared the two diffrent designs ?
are the solos still the king of the hill?

The chakra twin i heard was so refinent that i really dont what to buy the solos if the are not better.

One more thing are there eny differences between an year 200 pair of solos to a 2006 pair of solos ?

Hope you guys will help me share som light on this before i take the plunge

(im buying second hand)

The Solos are better... I dont remember if there has been
any changes since they were launched.

We have a pair of second hand Solos at Takt & Ton in Luleå,
you can send an e-mail to Peter: info@taktoton.com if you
are interested... (we can deliver them to Denmark).

Välkommen.

Det har inte skett någon ljudmässig förbättring på Klimax Solo sedan den introducerades 1999.
Däremot levereras Solo med Silver Interconnect, i stället för Black Interconnect, sedan januari 2000.

Source first?

Unidisk SC och Klimax-slutsteg känns lite felprioriterat om det inte är så att du har fått ett väldigt bra pris/erbjudande. Personligen skulle jag inte tänka på Klimax-slutsteg innan jag köpt både Unidisk 1.1 och Klimax Kontrol.

That littel chakra klimax amp sounded just perfect

Ok now the age thing is in place


Regarding the kvality of the sourch i couldent agree more

The unidisk sc is not on my future most wanted list at all but the system with the klimax amp it sounded mighty fine and i got a good idea of what the klimax amps are cable of.

I my self have a slimdevices Transporter from References audio mods and this thing made even a borrowed icepower amp sound fantastic.
My former lyngdorf cd-1 is crap in comparison

But i wassent until it had been completly moddified that it was better then my frinds esoteric po 3 dac combo stock its a littel glarish as almost all digital sources are.

Im eagerly wating to hear what the linn team have coocked up with the new sondek cd player wich also uses hardisk playback tech ,

As with all Linn equipment...the latest produced units are better.

I have compared them and Solo regardless of age is better. AND a lot more powerful.
NOTE, some of the early Solo's produced running hot.
So please ask the seller that question!

Finally, buy them ONLY if you also going to get Unidisk 1.1/CD12 and Klimax Kontrol/Kisto in the future.
Unidisk SC is NOT good enough and is only a short term solution.

Good Luck and please report back re the sound :D

Hi the pair i have on hand is from 2000

Its a certified linn dealer he said that there is no differnces between a 2000 pair and a 2007 pair

This is the info there is regarding the solos and there age

there is for the solos Standby time (i.e. the time it takes for the Klimax to go into standby

if left idle) changed from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.

Jul 1999 1223

Changes to Power Supply circuitry to increase stability of supplies

at power-up.

Nov 1999 1675

Interconnect leads upgraded – from standard (black) leads to new

High-performance (silver) interconnect leads (CONN 476)

Jan 2000 1816 (/NTK)


I ges its really a no brainer the klimax solos are the best from linn regardless of age as long as it have the powersupply upgrade that where introduced in now 1999.


It would still be interresting with more oppinions about this subject
i would rather spend extra money and get a newer pair if the where indeed better instead of forever after be puzzeld if i should have waited until i found a newer pair
