Hard Core Flat Earther - Does not care about tonal balance, timbre, soundstage, clarity, or ambience as long as they can recognise some semblence of a monotonic rhythm to wag their feet in synch with, pitch to sing along with and lots of pace to excite their souls. They mock anyone who listens to mainstream stuff and female vocals. Ocassionally, they are so obsessed with PRaT that they can't tell if one of their loudspeakers is wired out of phase. For weeks even.

Essentially Flat Earth - Listens to music rather than hi-fi. They enjoy a wide repertoire of music and can listen both at a conscious and subliminal level, enabling them to derive musical satisfaction whether they are concentrating entirely on the 'performance' or listening to it as background to work, play etc. The lyrics, and the manner in which they are expressed, matters almost more than the musical accompaniment, but only as long as the performance has meaning. These people can laugh and cry to a recorded performance played back on an effective and communicative system.

Middle Earther - Demands a total performance in that a Fender Jazz Bass must not sound like the Precision, kick drums must be felt, and voice must have complete lucidity and entirely palpable ... to the point of checking one's lap for spit in a particularly intimate recording, for example. They are also easily distracted by tonal and timbral aberrations, so they know they are not easily pleased. Listens for both tune and lyricism, and buys hi-fi only if it's fit for purpose.

Essentially Round Earth - Buys only recognised brands and aspires to the 'high-end' Levinsons, Krells and Naims. They enjoy music as much as the next guy but don't really understand what's going on in a performance. These folk tend to buy recordings of familiar performers and if, as an example, they like Norah Jones, will have her complete collection ... including singles, 24K gold edition special releases.

Hard Core Round Earther - Focuses entirely on the pin-point sharpness of the soundstage, slam of the system and the silky inky blackness of silences. These folk buy only audiophile grade recordings that invariably feature Diana Krall, Norah Jones and that infamous Pawnshop Jazz album. They enjoy tinkering with cables, Shun Mook devices, and cover their walls with acoustic felt, tiles and such like to achieve better 'focus'.

mellan essentially flat earth och middle earth. med vissa stänk ur BÅDA extremiteterna. detta beroende på vad det är för musik man spelar. handlar det om DÅLIG musik tex norah jones tenderar det lätt till att lyssna på ljudet och lyssnar man på SKITBRA musik tex roky erickson så blir jag helt uppslukad av musiken. så äre!
