Here is some further information and answers to some of the comments above.
First the volume control ''While the potentiometer is analogue it is controlled by a chip that actually works on a digital scale setting the output volume, I am looking into a more detailed description of the stage the amplification is done at, but I can tell you it does not interfere with the digital data''
Maestro has two inputs: 1 * Optical Toslink and 1 * Spdif. With a smart TV with HDMi inputs and Spdif out, you can have PS3, Mac, Digibox and so on in to the TV & then a single connection on to your Maestro. This is boring when you want to listen to music but don't want the TV on. I recommend that you use that second input on the Maestro to connect your music rendering device (LINN, Apple TV/airport-express, Sonos-player or whatever you have) so you can play music without a screen. One input for all your film functions & the other for Music ... simple!
Clocking: This seems to be a hot topic of conversation but it is my understanding that it does NOT have a clock! I'll try and get that in writing! Certainly the performance you get suggests this is the case. Though I admit DACS, in the traditional sense, do deliver extremely clean & detailed information, usually it's a tune-dem disaster.
Performance: This is what matters! With the sortiment of products we sell, in our shop and in my opinion, you have to go to MDSM to challenge Maestro on performance when comparing, using Majik level speakers. It's flabbergastingly good, probably the cleanest sound we have in the shop no matter the price, so when someone asks if it beats Rotel for 3000 Sek, I havn't heard Rotel but my expectation is that it will be worlds apart! Again confirmation that it plays 24 Bit 192 Htz
We have sold around 75 in the last few weeks from our shop, purely from demonstration (not including sales to resellers) so please, anyone that now owns and using one ... what do you think about performance? We are very close to a 100% hit on people that listen to it ... that's amazing ... so it must be doing something good
Have a nice weekend // Martin
